Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to see a podiatrist for my ACC injury?
No. You can come straight to us. We're ACC accredited, so you can book an appointment without a referral from your GP or anyone else. This means you get faster access to care, which is especially important when you're dealing with pain that's not getting better on its own.
What if I don't have an ACC claim yet? Can you help me lodge one?
Yes, absolutely. We can lodge the claim for you. Just give us a call on 07 949 7977 or book an appointment, and we'll handle it. Most work, home, and recreational injuries in New Zealand are covered by ACC, so there's a good chance you're eligible.
What will my ACC injury treatment actually involve?
It depends on your specific injury, but we'll start with a full assessment to understand what's happening. From there, we might recommend orthotics, bracing, footwear changes, gait analysis, muscle release, or a combination of these. We'll create a tailored plan designed to help your body heal properly and get you back to what you love doing.
Will I have to pay for orthotics or braces under ACC?
In most cases, very little. Under our contract, we can supply many orthotics and braces with little to no out-of-pocket cost. For more specialised or higher-cost devices, ACC funding may require additional approval and is generally reserved for more complex injuries or specific clinical situations. We'll discuss the most appropriate treatment options with you and let you know if any costs are likely before proceeding.
How long does ACC injury treatment usually take?
That varies depending on the injury and how your body responds. Some injuries resolve faster than others. What we focus on is getting you healed properly, not just quickly. We'll also identify any weaknesses or movement patterns that might have contributed to the injury in the first place, so you can prevent it from happening again.
